Drift Plastic Blues
I walk across the drift plastic shore
The tide washes more and more
Nano plastic sand ashore
Distant memory, the sea haunts my dreams
Alone apart from, along the shore
The glittering metal light
Picked out in twilight
The last space port
The final ark shimmers
Tall against the nylon mist
Gazing along the litter strewn vista
Of what was once called
The Gulf of Mexico
Where surfers and sun worshipers
Once danced, swam, and tanned
A half forgotten tune registers
Upon the desolate sound of
Wind and polluted wave
No birds sing
They are all extinct
It's just a chocked up moan
A funeral drone
The respirator wheezes
In my chem' suit
The last humans set to
Leave the messed up
Toxicated planet we made,
To the plastic waste
A once beautiful world
Suffocating in the detritus
Of humanities stupidity
Oh look at the mess
We've made
Oh look at the mess
We've made
Oh look at the mess - we've made!
