A Boy and a Girl
The boy and the girl came to the world
To see what was left behind
Pushed by a wheel of fire and steel
All that remained was a sign
They quietly observed, willing to learn
Holding eachother’s hand
All they could see was you and me
And they could not understand
Why pay this price, for something as simple as life?
We took the wrong turn and they left us behind
Pointlessly chasing the things you can’t see
Another number on a screen
You turn around and they take it away
The insecurities of greed
Take it all and let you bleed
Standing with nothing, and nothing to say
The boy and the girl went back to their world
Shaking their heads in dismay
As they left us behind their spirits returned
Holding eachother’s hand
