Tears in the Rain

Staring at a bed which upon lies an empty shell
Trying hard but my mind won’t realize that a friend has fled
Fled, fled, fled, flied away for good
Looking through the eyeglass of time but it’s not me who’s there
Trying hard but my mind won’t ration
Won't rationalize what’s happening
With one gush of wind
Oh, that’s life
Sitting with my feet drenched
Head spinning with the day's events
Staring out into the distance
Hoping the grey will give me some answers
Why now?
Why not a little later?
It’s simple and yet it’s not
Oh, that’s life
Fear that these moments get lost in time
Like tears in the rain
Grasping at something that’s ever so changing
However different each path we all cross in the end
The same bridge to unknown strange places
I tried to imagine late in my bed
But I couldn’t fathom being here no longer
Can’t pretend I’m not afraid
Oh, that’s life
