Wara

Habib Koité

Wara (The Lion) The number of the inhabitants in Bamako, the capital of Mali, is increasing every day. The populations of the North and the Center are coming to find a shelter
with the hope of living safer. In huge traffic jams, the black smoke coming out of the exhaust pipes mixes with the dust already in suspension ... It looks like there would be fumigants around the public lamps ...
It is, in this atmosphere, that young and aimless people are swarming, looking for themselves with as
a leitmotiv "" the muddle through"".
I gave a name to this hustle and bustle WARA.
This environment symbolises all the evils that undermine the population as the poverty, idleness
insalubrity, disease. Here, life is an everyday struggle. A Bambara proverb says:
The living one takes flight with the wings of the
deceased. We must face the Lion !
