Simply Walking By

As I was walking down the street the other day, I saw
A pretty lady walking straight my way
I could not think, I could not speak, No words would even come to mind
I did not want to let this chance slip by

She had a look that stopped your heart, a smile that caught your eye
Her eyes would make an angel glow
I knew I had to say hello

As she neared, I took a breath and simply said to her
"Hello!" May I please ask your name
She paused and then she looked at me, with a voice, soft and sweet
Said, "Hello!" and brought me to my knees

Then I took her hand in mine
What I felt made me understand
A simple touch can make it real, the way you want your heart to feel
