Good Man
I've been searching for a reason
A reason for you to stay
And I haven't found one yet
So I'm surprised you haven't walked away
I'm so glad to have you
But what have I done
To get such a good thing
In my life when all I do is run
Away from all that hurts me
I try never to grow
I just can't help it with you
There's something about you I don't know
But, I'm a man of my father
Something I can't stand behind
But that's all I can give you
It's not much, but it's mine
And I'd gladly give my heart to a woman like you
And I promise not to run when I get scared of what you'll do
And I'll happily stand by you, I'll never leave your hand
I'm not much of it alone, but with you I'm a good man
My daddy, he's built houses
My mama, she's saved lives
And I haven't done much of anything
Except write a few good lines
Sometimes I'm far away from Jesus
In words and action too
But there's one thing like him that I will always do
I would lay down my life for you
And I'd gladly give my heart to a woman like you
And I promise not to run when I get scared of what you'll do
And I'll happily stand by you, I'll never leave your hand
I'm not much of it alone, but with you I'm a good man
I'm a good man
