Man In My Rearview
I was always buckled up
In the back seat
A couple of crazy sisters
On both sides of me
Mama up front sitting to the right
Cause daddy he sure loved to drive
Taking every back dirt road
He could see
Yeah he'd crank up all those
Diamond rio songs
A little out of tune
But how he loved to sing along
And he'd get lost on purpose every time
Just to see what adventures we could find
But somehow
We'd always make it home
My memories are like looking in a mirror
Reflectin every yesterday still crystal clear
And the movie playing in my mind
That man is so much bigger than life
Superhero strong in faith and love
And I don't know how I'd ever live up to
The man in my rearview
When I was seventeen
I was ready to hit the road
Cause my old man's preaching
Sure was getting old
Then I turned 18 and hit the gas
With no intentions of looking back
But he was holding on
While I was letting go
My memories are like looking in a mirror
Reflectin every yesterday still crystal clear
And the movie playing in my mind
That man is so much bigger than life
Superhero strong in faith and love
But I never thought I'd wanna turn into
That man in my rearview
Just like the miles
The years go flying by
And I come back home
Whenever I find the time
I put my Dad through hell back then
But somehow we became best friends
And when I pull away
It's so hard for me to say...goodbye..
My memories are like looking in a mirror
Reflectin every yesterday still crystal clear
And the movie playing in my mind
That man is so much bigger than life
Superhero strong in faith and love
It was more than enough
To get me through
And if I'm lucky
This ole boy will turn into
That man in my rearview
