Arjun and Hanuman

Magicbox

In the Mahabharata,
Arjuna was in a mission to enrich his archery skills,
with Pashupatastra from Lord Parameshwara.
He meets the, now aged Hanumaman...
who is sitting in the deep forest by the side of a pond...
and performing "Rama Jabam".
Pranams!
From the divine grace emanating from your good self,
may I assume that you are Hanuman?
The Holy Chiranjeevi...
Sri Rama Jayam!
You're right Arjuna.
I feel happy to see another skillful archer.
I understand what you mean Hanuman Sri.
Tell me frankly, was Rama such a great archer?
What makes you doubt this, young man?
If Rama was truely a great archer...
he would have woven the Sethu bridge across the sea with his own arrows.
And not allowed monkeys to place stones to float on the water.
Ahhha...
Everything was possible for Rama.
But he wanted to go through the travails of a Human being...
and not do something that would keep reminding him that he was God.
Ahhaa... Nice reasoning.
I'm not God.
But I can a weave a bridge across the water with my arrows.
I'll do it right now if you would walk on it.
Mmm... Huh... huh...
This kid should be taught a lesson.
Why not, Arjuna?
Let me have the pleasure to go ahead.
Alright!
Hanuman Sri, I'm sure you now believe what I have mentioned.
Kindly place your right foot forward and walk on my bridge of pride.
Huh!
Hare Rama! What is this?
I'm a weak old monkey.
This bridge could not even bear the feather touch of my foot.
No wonder my Lord Rama did not do such mishap ventures.
Arjuna realises his folly,
lights his final pyre and prepares to end his life.
A pious Brahmin intervenes and stops him.
He offers to be a referee between Hanuman and Arjuna.
And requests Arjuna to build the arrow bridge again.
The arrow bridge is woven again.
Hanuman stands right in the middle of the bridge.
He takes all his weight without any hassle.
Hanuman bends and has a look down.
And he was awestruck to find a huge tortoise...
taking the load of the bridge on its back.
Both Hanuman and Arjuna do not know what is happening.
Krishna appears...
Arjuna...
I came in the guise of a referee to save you and your skills,
for the benefit of the whole base of the universe.
Thank you, Lord Krishna.
You not only saved my skills but also prevented them from getting to my head.
Jai Ram ji ki!
Hanuman Sri...
Kindly pardon me for my misdemeanour and bless me.
Arjuna... I'm a great admirer of your prowess.
I shall take a permanent place in the flag atop your Ratha
and be the first to witness your success.
This is my ultimate fortune.
Pranam!
