The House of Hides
As I wander through the forest
Asking for questions
Searching for answers
See a house on the hill
Amongst the trees
In a light still
The moon shines down
Answering my question
I head over in that direction
And everything is peaceful
As I walk toward the door
I try to knock but it comes right open and who could ask for more
It's carpets a weave of dreams, the hallways a winding mess
And every room is decorated with animal hides and preserved flesh
In the night their architecture bends down on me
As the decorations look in my sol and promise to haunt my dreams
As I keep wandering I hear breathing I look back
But nobody is there
so i just keep on walking
I hear movement and I doubt myself to feel alright
As I wander through the halls I shake and shiver
Fearing for a fright
But then I hear something shatter,
And I can't ignore it anymore
There's something in this place behind one of these doors
I look everywhere and see nothing but hides
I look under every nook and crevice to see what is alive
And I answer my own question
When i turn back around
Their glassy eyes fixed on me
The hides begin to sound
We are the souls of men who came and met their end
Wanderers paying the price for going where they shouldn't have been
