Sitting in my favourite chair, thinking about those distant days
When the cat had got my tongue now and I didn't have much to say
But my mind was working overtime, churning thoughts out by the score
That I never dared to speak out loud for fear that I should bore

And at the early age of fourteen, intent on being a star
Sitting in the Gladstone, drinking stout up at the bar
All the songs were oh so new to me with a magic of their own

It's been so good at times, I feared that I was in a dream
