Emberdawn
Vermilion shadows
Cast against a black sky
Below the earth trembles
A trail of devastation ablaze
Carving downwards through the woods
A miasma of white as the land subsides to grey
Is this god-sent hellfire, or the bearing of avarice?
We who thought ourselves above gods
Suffer yet our misdeeds
Our monuments burn and fall as the trees
When I awakened
I gazed upon a sea of ash
And breathed a stench of dying memory
Bodies once holding life now gnawed down to their roots
Scavengеrs return to the blackenеd ravine
Raising new sculptures in their likeness
A morbid obeisance to a blighted countenance
Seeds shall scatter the hillsides
To be consumed in the infernal maw
Dormant souls await the Emberdawn
Unknowingly destined to destruction
