The Lucky Ones
Dull windows
Deliver no lights
Under the soft cinders
The dimming of life
We crawl in cold canyons
Deep cuts between
The giants still standing
Over rabid ravines
Still city sleeps
In sheets of ash and snow
Grey sky it weeps
Over the fading glow
Are we the lucky ones?
Clinging onto life
Are we the lucky ones?
Ducking out of the lines of sight?
The last few leaves
Waiting to fall
Seems fortune's frozen for us all
Grave journeys
Keep taking their toll
All of these small mercies
Congeal in the cold
State of the dead empire
Submit to the grip
Of all these bred vampires
A grim leadership
Unstable cells
In concrete veins still surge
All of us wear
The scars of nature's purge
Are we the lucky ones?
Clinging onto life
Are we the lucky ones?
Ducking out of the lines of sight
Dividing one by one
Finding favour on the edge of the knife
Are we the lucky ones?
Clinging on
Clinging on to life
The last few leaves
Waiting to fall
Seems fortune's frozen for us all
