Me vs. Me

Buried within the darkest depths of all my art
There's something that burns brighter, but I've yet to find that part
The voices like choirs, an ensemble, sing me lullabies of grief
Am I grieving for myself or am I starving for release
I'm mourning again, for all of the parts of me I've lost
I gave them away in exchange for love, or so I thought
They've got to be somewhere. Or maybe they're all just lost inside the void
Will I cease rebuilding bridges my shortcomings will destroy
It's hard to be someone
When the sutures come undone
And you're spilling your guts out
In front of your loved ones
They told me Iook straight ahead when you're running from your past
Does it make me a masochist if I can't help looking back
There's a fury inside of me, and I'll take that to my grave
So bury me softly, things are better off that way
