In Between Things
We're so tall
Yet stand in quicksand
Our feet pull down
Grow our heads up for air
You mug for camera
I peer from shadow
Syllables that can't connect
Motes float in place
I fail to see what we ought to be
But hold still don't give up on me
We're in a quiet space in between things
Shallow breath out
Inhale to collect
Nothing in this solid
Or to regret
I fail to see what we ought to be
Let's hold onto the end
It's uncomfortable and I hate it
Let's not solve it now
We'll always be sad, you know
I'll always be sad
We'll always be friends
It's uncomfortable and I hate it
But let's not figure it out
We'll always be sad, you know
I'll always be sad
Hey, what if we should take all the things
And launch them out for some future self
On a space flight to complain about
At least we'll be in space?
I know it's the wrong feeling, I can't help myself
You're better off all by yourself
I'll go off to be someone else
