Until We Meet Again
You know, if I’m gonna be completely honest with you, I gotta tell you – I’m not okay
It’s been hard, hard few years for me and I know I’m not alone
I’ve lost so many people
Not just in the last couple of years, but throughout my life
And I just want to take a moment to acknowledge some of folk who have gone on to the other side
I miss them so much, and I love them so much
My aunt Tee, Beverly Williams, Aunt Rita, Aunt Bobbi
Nana, my grandmother, she lived ‘til she was 101!
Granddaddy, he died in ’81, but it still hurts like it was yesterday
I love you
Until we meet again
My unclе Walter, uncle Kenny, my cousin JD Clay
Mommy Smith, my grandmothеr, Ida Van Smith
Uncle Tuff, miss all of you so much
Until we meet again
Some of my good friends, Scottie Beats (‘til we meet again)
Gone but not forgotten
Ron of Lucy Florence
Ricky Crowder I miss your cakes
Eric Ferrell, you used to beat my face
Michael Ajakawe, my godmother Angela Stevens
Until we meet again
And while we’re here, I’ll just give you a moment to say the names of some of the people that you miss. Say their names out loud. Let them know that you love them still
Until we meet again
And then we can all, we can all take a breath together
Exhale
I love you
Until we meet again
(‘til we meet again)
Gone but not forgotten
We love you
Their memories live on as long as we say their names
Until we meet again
So never stop saying their names
