THE SCENT OF FREEDOM
I remember the scent of April
When I was just a kid
Springtime came and made me blossom
Like the rain does to the seed
I remember mama's calling
I had to feed chickens round our home
Life was simple, farm work tiring
But at the table we were one
Someone said we're East of Eden
Time stands still here as in hell
But time can't sleep and started ticking
The scent of freedom rang the bell
The nights are quieter there in the country
But my dreams ran faster than the days
I was younger, I was hungry
I would have walked life's other ways
And I left the East of Eden
Left my mama and my home
Yeah I traded the warmth of April
For the scent of freedom
I remember mama's crying
She knew I wouldn't see her anymore
She looked like her life had been stolen
By the scent of freedom
Freedom
Freedom
Means nothing without Love
I'm coming home, mama
Coming home
Now I long for the East of Eden
How I miss the place I belong
Now I know that the warmth of April
Is the scent of freedom
Now I long for the East of Eden
How I miss her embrace where I belong
Now I know that the warmth of April
Is the scent of freedom
Is the scent of my freedom
