Deer Friend
A hop and a leap and you're gone again
That foggy morning, you weren't yet my friend
But i think i knew it even then
In our beginning we drafted our end
I wished for the snow but you sent for rain
I wanted to grow without feeling the pain
You knew that i couldn't, but even so
Through brambles and thorns we set off to go
Flying
Flying
My deer friend
Please wait for me around the bend
I'm waiting for my spots to fade
Next winter will melt them away
Year after year you break and regrow
Year after year i plant and resew
Weary and winded but even so
Autumn wraps velvet on our hands and our toes
Sighing, sighing
My deer friend
Please wait for me around the bend
I'm waiting for my spots to fade
Next winter will melt them away
Pray, deer friend
Keep chasing that which your heart intends
I'll soon be near you, at your side
The long bitter months, i'll take them in stride
When i am wiser and when i'm all grown
When i am glad to be seen and known
You'll look down the river and see
That i'm happy for you and i'm happy for me
My deer friend
Please wait for me around the bend
I'm waiting for my spots to fade
Next winter will melt them away
Pray, deer friend
Keep chasing that which your heart intends
I'll soon be beside you, in the light
I'll tell you again, that we'll be alright
