Nerd Rock
We play a little genre called "nerd rock"
We sing about topics that appeal to geeks
We may not be cool, but we're trendy
Though 20 years ago we'd have just been freaks
Somebody somewhere along the line decided he was smart
He thought he'd sing about important issues and sing it from the heart
So everyone would think him wise, say "hmmm," and not each head
He sang what they already knew but hadn't always said
So bang your head with me, and we can all agree
That you and I are wise though neither is surprised
Bang your head with me and we'll go home happy
'Cause mankind is set free when you bang your head with me
It only sounds wise if you get it
And no one ever has the time to explain
Even if we think of something clever
Trying to teach you would just be in vain
Teaching life lessons in 3 minutes while following a rhyme scheme
Though it sounds good in theory, in practice it's a pipe dream
The only lessons worth learning would be too hard to explain
So we break it down into sound bytes that sound so sweet to say
So bang your head with me, and we can all agree
That you and I are wise though neither is surprised
Bang your head with me and we'll go home happy
'Cause mankind is set free when you bang your head with me
Nodding your head constitutes acceptance of the end user license agreement
I'd probably write another verse except
I've run out of room on the page
I know I'm not good, so I'll be short
And get myself off of the stage
So bang your head with me, and we can all agree
That you and I are wise though neither is surprised
Bang your head with me and we'll go home happy
'Cause mankind is set free when you bang your head with me
